Next Generation IPhone

So far Apple has ante up every time with new gadgets and new features on the I Phone. Today Steve Job is on a leave of absence from his CEO position. Tim Cook, COO of Apple, will take over until Mr. Apple himself returns. What will happen to apple now? It seems like there are a lot of skeptics out there who think that Apple is at the end of its glory. I beg to differ.

According to many of the Social Media sites as well as digital blog sites, Apple is no where near the end of its reign. It’s just warming up.

Apple has received patents for some really cool features on the IPhone. The features that we could expect to see in the very near future. What could this be?

Imagine the next generation IPhone with the solar powered capability, which means we may not need the car charger anymore. We won’t have to charge the phone as much and yet have a ton more hours to play with your cool device. Imagine you can use your phone to open the door to your house, your safe or your office. Imagine your phone can project its screen onto a projector screen. And also imagine controlling your television the same method like the Wii.

If only things can come a little sooner. Despite Steve’s absence, I think Tim Cook will do a wonderful job with Apple. Apple is going nowhere but continues to bring in new innovations to the public and continue to rise.

New Year’s Resolutions

It is a tradition all around the world for everyone or at least those who would participate to create a new year’s resolution every year. Now I don’t know if it is just me or if everyone feels the same, but it seems like every year, I needed more time to think about what I really want for my New Year’s Resolution. So I did. I spent valuable time considering what I really want to accomplish this year. I’m going to work my hardest to accomplish them.

So here they are: First, I would like to make it to a respectable airline and fly airplanes with more than 30 passengers. Second, I would like to read at least 5 books this year. Third, I would like to move to a new city where I can start to develop new relationships with new people. Last but not least I am hoping to create a stability on my finance.

I normally set at least one resolution for every year. Some year I would accomplish it and some year I would forgot about it half way through and would have to make a new one a long the way. As of last year, I got a curve ball thrown at me while I was unprepared for. It was a tough one to swallow. But let’s not get into because it would be too personal to share.

So now that I have set my resolutions for the new year of 2011, let’s discuss the reasons why I chose those goals and how I’m going to accomplish them. As always, I don’t want to start writing until I’ve figured my plots. So here are my plots for the new year.

1. I’ve always been determined and driven to accomplish my goals. At this point, the biggest goal and longest pursuing goal that I’ve set my whole life would be to be a part of a respectable airline. I’ve had the passion to travel and fly airplanes since I discovered it in freshmen year in high school. Right after high school, there was no turning back or looking for other career. It was flying and I went right after it. So here I am have quite a bit of experience within the aviation industry. But it’s time to step up to the plate and play in the big league. Yes, the wordings that I used may seems playful when I’m talking about the biggest goal that I’ve ever set my whole life that I am trying to accomplish this year. But I think sometime I take life too seriously so why not relax it a little. So this year is it. It is going to be my biggest year and I’m going to achieve the biggest goal in my entire life.

2. I’ve always believed that as a person, creativity is what makes you unique. As a person we all want to be appreciated and loved and everything like that. I believe in diversification and increasing intellectuals. So that is what I’ve been doing during my spare time. I have been diversifying and learning with books. Not the aviation books but the books that I enjoy reading such as Cheating Death, America is in the Heart, Wired for War, and Mad Money. I normally read a few books each year just to gain some insights on the different fields and enjoy the quiet time. Plus it helps boost my vocabulary skill. Yes I understand that the amount of books that I read each year might not be the average amount that people may read. But hey, I have a busy lifestyle and I think a few books each year has done me just fine. But once again, it is time to step up to the plate. I believe that reading can help a person learn so much. You can learn just about anything. So this year I would like to increase my knowledge and utilize my downtime to make it more efficient.

3. I’ve always wanted to move to a big city. Now this goal will come with the first goal that I set for this year. Hopefully by going to the airline, it will allow me to move to a big city as well. Why big city? Well I grew up in a big city already. But ever since high school, all the city that I’ve resided has been smaller city. So I like to step up to the plate once again and gain the big city experience. But this time it will be me who will be paying for everything and not my parents. I also would like to move to a bigger city and want to develop better relationship with everyone. I think the relationship that I have with everyone now is great. I will continue to work on it with the folks that I’ve associate with. However I would like to expand my horizon and gain more relations with more people in a big city.

Lastly, I’m sure that this last goal is probably very similar to a lot of people out there. I want to stabilize my finance this year. It has been a rough year for me. Mainly because of the curve ball that I received. But I’m not going to explain what that is because it’s too personal. So my goal is to establish a better system, a better budget plan for the new year, which is to cut down on the expense. Because after all, the fastest way to affluence is by cutting down on the expense.

These are the goals that I’ve set up for the new year. I am determined to accomplish them all. I hope things will go as plan. I am prepared for any curve ball that will be thrown my way. I should now able to refer back to this blog and will remember what my goals are for the new year’s resolutions.

Are you worrying about your mortgage? Would you like to check your heart rate because of it?

Alright, I just found out today that there are apps in the App Store that can provide to users with their heart rate information. The app actually works!

One of the hear rate app that I downloaded was Heart Rate. It’s free! Yes, it’s free!

The instruction is very simple, “Place your finger so it gently rests on and completely covers the camera lens. Then tap the screen to begin.”

It works on the same principle as a medical pulse oximeter used in hospitals. It is a not a fake diagnostics device like a lot of others on the App Store. it’s a real heart rate monitor with a proven principle behind it.

After you tap on the screen, it turns on the light and it works just like a real heart rate measuring device.

For more info, check out the App Store or http://www.instantheartrate.com

I wonder what else will be coming in the near future to our wonderful App Store.

How to fly an airplane

Flying an airplane is one of the most exciting and funnest thing that you can do in your life. The first time you learn to fly an airplane will and should take your breath away. Unlike driving a car, flying an airplane will require good sound judgment, ability to maintain situational awareness throughout, good stick and rudder skills and good moral values.

We normally wake up, shower, dress up, jump in a car and go straight to work without thorough planning. If the car breaks down, we can just pull over and use our triple A’s card. In an airplane you won’t be able to pull over. Therefore prior to each flight, a good pilot must conduct good and thorough pre-departure planning. A pilot must consider the risks before it could become a hazard. Good pilot must assess the risks by considering the pilot, the aircraft, the environment and the external pressure prior to each flight. The pilot needs to make sure that he is healthy enough to fly, still proficient to fly and competent to complete the flight. You would need to make sure that the airplane performance is good enough to go on the flight. Something to consider on that are fuel, climb performance and aircraft equipment. In addition, you would need to consider the departure airport environment condition, the en route weather condition, destination condition and alternate destination condition. The external pressure such as the reason why you go on that flight, departure delays etc are additional risks that you must consider. Once your preflight planning and considerations are complete, then it’s time to inspect the airplane for takeoff.

Once the preflight planning is complete and the inspection of the aircraft is done then it’s time to start the engine and go. In flight, you must have the ability to make good sound judgment based on the information that you have. This is why thorough preflight planning will help. Often time good sound judgment requires the ability to use common sense. Good pilot must also have the ability to maintain situational awareness in flight. Situational Awareness is the ability to maintain a good perception of your surroundings through the use of all of your senses. Basically it’s do you know where you are and what you are doing as you are flying along? Without good decision making and positive situational awareness, then the risks may become hazards as you are continuing to follow the chain of event that will lead to a disaster.

The ability to make good decision and maintain situational awareness is crucial as a pilot. However, in addition, you will need good stick and rudder skill to fly an airplane. Some people may not remember how to do a parallel parking since they passed their driving test a while ago. Now they might be ok with that especially when they just avoid having to do a parallel parking. However to become pilot you must be able to perform required maneuvers and maintain that proficiency over time. You would need to be able to watch and demonstrate the maneuvers after the instructor has demonstrated them to you. You also need to be able to retain that skill for the next lesson. If the instructor demonstrate a maneuver, you need to be able to demonstrate the maneuver afterward. Now just like anything else, you’ll learn it through memory, understanding, application and correlation. So if an instructor demonstrate a maneuver, over time, are you able to demonstrate it on your own? If yes, then you got it! Keep in mind that some folks will take longer time and some take less time to be able to demonstrate the maneuvers. That is okay!

Whether you are flying an airplane, driving a car or operate a machine, good moral standard must be in placed. Good pilot must respect his ability to fly an airplane and the airplane performance. You must have a good head on your shoulder. So leave the hazardous attitudes at home when you operate any machine, be it a car or airplane.

So whether you are an aviation enthusiast or you would like to learn how to fly an airplane, remember that you’ll need to be able to make good sound judgment, maintain situational awareness, good stick and rudder skill and good moral standards.

The above message is based on my own personal opinion and experience as a pilot and as a flight instructor. It is not the only guidance that you would need to fly. It is just my basic summary of how to fly an airplane. There are additional information that you would need to operate an aircraft safely. But I hope that it provides to you a good basic understanding of how to fly an airplane. So good luck and fly safe!
